Intro and Goals

I currently work in analytics and data science and want to continue my personal growth, but also share that journey to help others growth. My core skillset is what I would call applied python and SQL where I am able to handle data wrangling, transformation, analytics, model development, etc.

I am currently focused on going into more depth on ML / model development and developing more efficient code and coding practices. My goal for this site is to document and share that journey, hopefully interact with some people I can help and/or can help me, and to have a mechanism to hold myself accountable. Along the way I will be trying new approaches and new languages as a way of bringing a beginner’s mind to some of the problems and learning more.

This is where the name of the site comes in; deliberately hacky. I think I learn more as I engage with more facets of a problem and to facilitate that I will often focus on a “good enough” solution that allows me to move on to the next part of the problem. Undoubtedly, this will be sub-optimal, but I think that will create more opportunities to learn (especially as downstream problems are created; nervous laugh) and I can go back and improve approaches as I learn more.
